For the basis of our time system, the team agreed to use an animation which morphed between primary colours at irregular intervals, which was projected in the barn of the Quadrangle:

Whenever each member became aware of time passing via a peceived a colour change, they would hang up a paper object onto a length of string that spanned across the barn which represented their timeline for the duration of the project.

Unlearn Time

Imagining Utopian Time Systems.

Unlearn Time was a week-long research project organized by Dr. Helga Schmid exploring the concept of Uchronia, or Utopian Time. The project involved the members of the team deciding on an alternative time system to live by without the use of computers, phones or clocks at the Quadrangle, a secluded space just outside of London. Our team created and lived by this time system for 48 hours, creating an installation within the space during this process.

Based on the concept of time as descriptive (ontic) and time as experienced (ontological), this alternative time system aimed at getting the team to focus on the perception of time as a continuous flow rather than a series of discrete segments.
